With the state of the economy being what it is today, many people find themselves consumed with the uncertainty of the future. I have heard time and again today how worried people are about this whole bailout situation. One woman today said “I am angry to know that some members of our Government sat back and did nothing to prevent this when they were told many times over the last year to watch out. Why should we have to pay for the mistakes of greedy Corporations and Officials that may have been taking kick backs.” This same message is the same all around town.
I started this Blog to give readers insight in to South Carolina everyday life and have since seen real problems within our own local Government while doing research. So now I am lead in a slightly different direction. I will still be giving local information, but I will also be highlighting Bill’s that are up and coming to be voted on in the South Carolina Government, in hopes that more people will start writing their local officials and telling them changes need to be made starting right here in the local area’s.
So far I have been studying over some things Mark Sanford has been doing while in office and have found many things that are positive. A few I am still reading up on and unsure of, but for the most part a better job than I even thought he would do.

The days of back room voting by your elected officials may be coming to a close. Representative Haley from District 87 of Lexington County and Representative Ballentine from District 71 of Lexington and Richland is working on a new bill that will provide voting status of each Legislator on each bill up for review. Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina has joined in support for the passing of this as well as many others.
If this bill is passed it will make it easier for everyone to know just how each elected official is voting. You can then determine for your self if he or she is doing the right thing for the community. With this comes better accountability for actions on the part of those who citizens support.
This is one bill I hope will be able to pass in this next session. The more we as citizens know about how the people we elect vote on issues, the better chance we have of getting people in office that will vote more in tune with what the people want rather than Big Corporations and Lobyist’s. We have to start at the state level and work our way up to the country level if we as citizens want to make big changes with in our Government.

Bail Out Bill did not pass in the House so back to the drawing board they go. They are saying this is a needed measure and they need it now. So many are worried because of the whole situation and to top that off the Stock Market has fallen to it’s lowest in history. They are talking about this looking alot like the crash of the 1930’s and may get just as bad.

The House is to vote on Bail Out bill tomorrow to see if both parties have come up with a solution to the massive problem on Wall Street. Many are making it clear that they want no money to go to CEO parachute and do not want the tax payers to have to pay for the mistakes of them. You can read this full bill up for a vote at: http://financialservices.house.gov or http://speaker.gov

You can also take a look at the OPEC website which has no mention of our gas shortgage in South Carolina or even reason behind it. http://opec.com/
People are still wondering why we are having such a shortage with fuel so long after the Hurricane which was said to be the cause of this problem. I will be looking into this issue over the next day or so and post what ever information I can find.
