Gas Stations On Empty

Published by Robin Green at 3:13 am under Local Events, Local News Edit This

With Hurrican Ike long gone South Carolina has still seen a gas shortage like no other in my years of living here. In both North and South Carolina stations are running out fast with no way of knowing when they may get more. The few stations thatĀ have gas, have lines that are sometimes an hour long or more.

This situation has become so bad that several local colleges have suspended classes for the next few days because they said “some students just do not have the gas to get here”. Tempers are rising by the hour over this situation with theĀ fear that we are just all just beginning to see the effects of this down hill economy.

Today In History

On this day in 1956 the operation of the first transatlantic telephone cable system begins.

Local Gas Prices

Today you will find the average local gas price at about $3.77 with the cheapest being found at Dodge’s on Wade Hampton Blvd. in Taylors for $3.47 a gallon.

wow. that’s crazy. I have heard of that happening in areas around hurricane zones, but only for a short time.

We have not had such a problem here in Chicago. Gas dropped from $4.19 to $4.09 this week. For about 2 days a month or so ago it dropped to $3.99 and it was a jaw dropping moment.
