November 1st, and the race is on at TR Speedway

It looks like the race this weekend (November 1, 2008) is going to be one heck of a show. Jodie Palmer (owner of TR Speedway) has agreed, if we get a certain number of cars for the super stock division, then they will be running as well this weekend to shake down their cars for the upcoming Grass Roots Nationals. That will mean that the drivers meeting will start at 6pm with hot laps at 6:30.

Wally Fowler is said to be in the house as well as Kid Quick (Zack Mitchell). With so many great names, it is hard to even list them all.

Many people may remember Wally Fowler from the riverside days and I have been told he will be driving his #4 late model crate car for this event.

Now Kid Quick, can I get a **** Yea! This young man is 12 years old and will be sitting in the #57 late model crate car. I have only seen Kid Quick race twice and believe me when I tell you,” the old timers are going to have their hands full trying to win this one”. He is running with the big boys and can with out a doubt hold his own. Go get’em Zack Mitchell!

So here are the classes you will be seeing race this Saturday night. Young Guns, Stock 4, Super Stock 4 (if they can get enough cars), Renegades, Stock 8, Limited, Late Model Crate, Pure Stock and I hope I did not forget one. So it is set to be a huge event.

This is an on going wait and see for the Super Stock 4 so I will keep you posted when I find out for sure that it is going to happen. Don’t forget that there is only two more weekends to race at TR Speedway counting this one.

Stay tuned tomorrow as I let you know which gas companies have made the most profit in the United States on the backs of consumers.

Phone books in need of homes

Published by Robin Green under Local News Edit This

Technorati Profile

I can remember back in the day when the local phone company would leave each house hold one phone book. If you lost that phone book, you would have to beg, plead and grovel to get another one.

Oh, how that is not a problem anymore here in Powdersville South Carolina. Just how many phone books do these phone companies think I need?

Two weeks ago I was so happy to see my new phone book waiting on me at the mailbox. So I threw away that old ratty looking one and copied my numbers in the new one.

Tuesday of last week, I came home to 2 more phone books at my mail box (now they are the same Real Yellow Page phone book I received just a week earlier.) Well I chalked it up as a mistake and put them on my self until I find someone who needs them.

Well guess what happened today? You got it, not 1 but 2 new phone books sitting in my driveway. So now I have 4 extra phone books that I need to find homes for. (I hate throwing anything like that away because it adds to trash we don’t need. I could recycle, but I fear someone could use them. I mean after all they are new.)

I was going to take them to my local Bi-Lo, but you want believe what they had there? A whole rack of phone books for people to pick up if they need one. I hate to see how many they have at the local library.

I could just call the phone company and let them know someone left extras at my house if more is needed, but I do not want to be on the phone all day with customer service.

In hopes of finding them homes, I will keep checking around to see if anyone can use a nice, crisp, up-to-date, never been opened phone book. I am now afraid to say that I may not even be able to give these things away.

Could SC Rep. Barrett be voting to loss this election?

The race is on for the US House of Representative seat in South Carolina district 3. Congressman J. Gresham Barrett is trying to hold on to his seat, while Jane Dyer is trying to take it, or maybe he is trying to give her the seat with his recent voting trend that is upsetting to say the least.

Congressman Barrett and his voting record could be the reason he may loss this election come November. He voted yes on the HR 1424 Emergency Economic Stabilization Act 2008 (bailout bill). This vote alone could cost him huge, but he did not stop there. He also voted no on HR 6867 Unemployment Compensation Extension Act 2008. With so many people in this country that have lost their jobs and having a hard time finding work in this unstable time, why in the world would he vote no on a bill that would help millions that are unable to find work?

With making such a bad call in voting on two different bills in October, there is no telling which way he would vote if he were not up for re-election. The only reason to vote the way he has is to get yourself voted out of office.

I have not yet been able to get a hold of Jane Dyer to find out her stands on these issues. However you can go to her site to read more up on her. To my knowledge she is and was against the bailout bill and is full steam ahead at trying to get jobs back in this country.
