Congratulatios to all the drivers at TR Speedway on another great race night

Published by Robin Green at 12:59 am under Local Events, Local News Edit This

Oh Yea, now that is the way it’s done boys and girls. What a race last night at the TR Speedway. Young guns black flagged, only one major accident, with a few finder binders of course and most were driving without the pushing, shoving, spinning and hitting that has been seen in the past (with the exception of a few).

With only 3 cars on the track for the Young Guns race, you would think that they would have enough room so as to not hit each other.  Well wrong I was and starting in the qualifications it was plain to see there would be problems between Zeke Whitman #10 and Mack Norris # 22. Throughout the entire qualifying and the main race these two battled by trying purposely to take each other out. The banging and beating amongst these two, after several warnings of rough driving, caused the flag man to black flag them both and throw them out of the race thus allowing 10 year old Jason Calhoun #4Jr to take home the win. Congratulations Jason Calhoun!

The Renegade  division had a rough start early on with a bad wreck between Jackie Foster #145, Billy Hudson #7 (taking them out of the qualifying) and a few others that were able to stay in. You could not have asked for a better set of drivers during their main event. They all were fantastic. Nikita Treadwell #N1 brought home the 1st place win, followed by Dwight Smith #8 in 2nd and Brian Kuykendall #16 in 3rd.

I couldn’t believe that there were 15 or so cars in the Stock 4 and with that said you can bet there were a few finder benders, pushing, blocking and just plain getting a little ill with each other out on the track. For the most part during the main race they kept it together long enough for Donny Atkins #112 to take the win and Kelly to come in 2nd.

Stock 8 had a very well run race with no rough driving and just clean racing. I think these boy’s were on their game when they drove through the gate. All of the drivers put on a good show with Timmy Smith #6 coming in under the checkered flag to take 1st place. Not far behind him was Wildman Bowers #55 in 2nd and Tim Rackley #11 in 3rd place.

Super Stock 4 gave us just a taste of what is to come in the Grass Roots Nationals two weeks from now. Barry Lou #72 took home the win after almost losing it in the last lap.

The Limited class had a few bumps and bruises but still put on the best show of the season so far. This class is always one to watch for some of the best driving on dirt. Mr. Excitement #00 and Michael Barbare #02 were in a dead heat race for first when a little contact sent #02 back a few slots bringing Mr. Excitement home for the win of the night.

The Late Model Crate series started out with one lap qualifying to place for their main race. Now this class is the best to watch on dirt, hands down. Zack Mitchell (Kid Quick) #57 started out in the front and brought it own home for his first win at TR Speedway. Look for an upcoming story this week on this young 12 Late Crate Driver.

With so many cars in Pure Stock (that I lost count) there were sure to be a few bumps in the road. They ran 3 wide many times, with a few finders, tires and car parts lost. Travis Burdett #15 won the 1st place followed by Mitchel Coggins #T1 and Dustin Moore #20. Update ( Looks like there was a protest. I will add the official results as soon as I get them.)Update: New winner after disqualification, Coggins #T2, Morris #T20 and Harvell #1.

To all the drivers that ran at TR Speedway, I say Congratulations to each one of you for a great show. See you all for the Grass Roots Nationals.
