Could the 2008 - 2009 winter be colder than normal?

It looks like winter is really here now. We are possibly looking at some frozen weather this week. I can hope at least that we will get some of that white stuff. Could this be one of the worst winters in years for South Carolina? My prediction is that we should have some record lows this year, followed by more record lows over the next few years. I am no meteorologist, so this is only my opinion.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting that this winter will be around 2 degrees below normal in our area, with more precipitation than normal, saying some area’s way more than normal. They are predicting a possible white Christmas for some in the area.

It is my opinion that our weather has cycles, changing about every 10 years. We have had some much warmer weather for the last 10 years, so now the cool down starts and remains for the next 10 years. I did some research on our temperatures and found out that every 50 years or so, we have some record low temperatures, lasting a couple of years and then rebounding.
