Nikki Haley going the extra mile

I think someone is finally starting to listen about waste in Government spending. Nikki Haley has submitted a new bill that would call for accountability in all forms of Government spending here in South Carolina.

This is just a portion of the email that I received from Mrs Haley’s office. “Last year, I was proud to have led the fight to pass new regulations that will allow voters to more easily find out how their legislators vote on bills that come before the State House.  I did this not only because I believe that “on-the-record voting” adds a level of much-needed transparency, but I was convinced that legislators will be far more careful about how they choose to spend taxpayer dollars when they know their constituents will know immediately how they voted on each proposed spending bill.

I am delighted to report that these new rules have already saved thousands by allowing legislators to show their spending habits on the record and forcing them to rethink each dollar that is being spent.

During the current economic turmoil that families and small businesses across South Carolina are experiencing, I believe firmly that the job of each State Representative is to be a watchdog for how state government spends taxpayer dollars.  And so, during this challenging budget year, we should benefit from the lesson and burn of the times.  That’s why I’ve decided to introduce the South Carolina Fiscal Accountability Act.“

Nikki Haley may not be in my district but she seems to be one of those Representatives who really go the extra mile. The ones in my district are not doing very much in the way of putting forth good legislation. Now don’t get me wrong, they are submitting some stuff but not doing nearly the job they should be. It is my hopes that my Representatives will get on the ball and start making things happen for all the citizens in South Carolina.
