In this world we live in woman are made to pay for things like exams in order to prosecute the criminals. South Carolina may be passing S512 that would prevent a victim from bearing the cost of such things. Making a woman pay to prove that someone has attached her is just ludicrous. This is one reason that woman do not file a complaint a lot of the time because of fear that they will have to pay to do so. Common sense is a normal way of life for me. Our Government needs to get back to the people with common sense instead of those who live for the almighty dollar.

South Carolina is finally seeing a break in the clouds and rain for a beautiful day. The rest of the week looks to be just as great with a small cold front coming through about Thursday. With us being in some severe drought territory, we can use the rain we can get. This may make for a better summer in the way of boating and swimming at our local Hartwell lake.
We go camping each year at lake Hartwell and have such a good time with the whole family. Last year the lake was so far down that taking the boat out was impossible. We are hoping that this year is much better. If you get the chance camp in the outdoors, Take it and have a ball.

I have received calls left and right about many people who have gotten letters that their state tax refund have been taken to satisfy outstanding bills. Through much research, I can tell you that this practice is legal per SC Code of Laws Title 12 Chapter 56 . The biggest problem here is that if someone is fighting a bill that they claim they do not owe, you must start the process within 30 days of getting the notice in order to get anything done. You can call the company claiming you owe money and demand a copy of the original contract or bill that you signed. Getting a regular copy of your credit can help in aiding this process. Check often for unauthorized accounts and start early with the process.

You guys probably remember a post I did a few days ago about the cigarette tax hike which caused cartons to go up about $7 each. Well I found out this week through talking with Governor Mark Sanford’s office that there has been no tax increases on the local level. The only tax increase going into effect is the Federal that calls for an additional .63 cent per pack. It was told to me that our South Carolina Governor does not plan on passing any of the tax increase bills in the house and senate that deals with increasing taxes on tobacco. At least someone is trying to cut us some slack in this horrible economic time.
