Alright, I am now on my soap box. It seems to me that there is a witch hunt going on here in South Carolina over Governor Mark Sanford not wanting to take the Federal stimulus money without being allowed to pay down some debt.

First off I have to say that I am not a Republican nor am I a Democrat. My views simply are logic and trust in what is right and not go with party affiliations. Most people who know me understand that I do not always agree with our Governor but this is one issue that I do.

The problem here is that the local media I have seen on TV would have you to believe that he wants to use the entire stimulus to pay down debt and worst take away from the school system. They simply are not giving the whole story. See for yourself just what Governor Mark Sanford would like to do with the stimulus.

He is simply asking for a quarter of that money to pay down debt which would in turn free up even more than the bailout would to begin with. Did I miss something here? Have all of the economic professionals said to pay down debt first in your personal lives to get your money back on track to the right direction?

Today the largest Federal cigarette tax increase takes effort and so does the start of my Chantex. The doctor thinks it is worth a try to help me quit smoking and so far several family members have kicked the habit using this new pill. Who knows it could really make a difference. Well I hope it will anyway.

Do you know of someone who has layed those nasty things down? How did they do it? It would be interesting to see how many ways people have come up with to quit smoking. Some say the best thing to do is just to put them down. I have tried that before and it did not seem to work. Maybe with the help of this newer medication, I can finally make the leap from smoker to non.

I will keep you posted on how this works for me.

This is the first day of the new exercise regimen of walking twice a day for 30 minutes. Today I had a doctors appointment for severe headaches (migraines) that have been fierce for about 3 weeks now. The usual test’s were done with a shocking discovery, yes it is high blood pressure. Now I am one who does not eat salt but loves pepper so when did this happen? It could be just that this is a hereditary condition because just about every adult on my mothers side have the same including Thyroid problems (which I was also checked for).

Pills are not something I like to take if I can help it so I have 30 days to try alternative methods such as diet and exercise. The thought of also losing the extra 30 pounds I have put on is also a plus. Food however does not seem to taste the same without all the butter, grease and fat. Plain rise with boiled chicken and sauteed veggies was my supper tonight and without all the good stuff, there was really no taste at all, just BLAH.

Oh well, I will have to get used to it and so will my family because if I can’t eat it, it will not be in this house. Have a great afternoon today everyone.

The wind was up a bit but that did not matter when you are looking out the window at the gorgeous rays coming through.

It looks like Spring is really here to stay even with the temperatures dropping some at night. Camping will not be far off in the very near future. Lord knows I could use some time on a small vacation.

Cleaning out the building this weekend was impossible so my daugter thought that she would change her room around once again. It has only been 2 months since we did this last. She does get it honest though.

For those who have not heard yet, it looks like some Social Security and SSI benificiaries are going to be getting a one time stimulus payments of $250 sometime in May. To find out more, visit the Social Security website.

Here is Upstate South Carolina, the rain just keeps coming down. It has been raining here since Wednesday and it looks like we may get a break Sunday. The races that we go to here locally have all been called off due to the flooding of the tracks. Even if it quite raining now, the tracks would be too wet to do anything. Maybe swimming is more in the cards with all this rain.

Since moving to Powdersville from North Carolina, we have yet to find a mechanic we like. Where we came from, Stotts Garage was who we took out auto’s to when anything went wrong and they could be trusted to tell us the truth and very fair in pricing. Here in Powdersville, I have not found a mechanic that I fully trust yet. If you happen to know of one, please feel free to let me know.

Finding someone to work on my cars is as hard as finding a doctor that I like and trust. It takes time and patience which are two things I do not have right now. I have found a doctor for myself but am still looking for a good one for my car’s.

Well today has been fantastic. My husband did not just buy me a single rose, he gave me a whole bush so that I could plant it outside and have roses all the time. Now if that is just not the sweetest thing. The rain here in South Carolina has made for a dreary day but we can use all the rain we can always use it here in the South.

This week has been long already and each day seems to show just what another year will bring. More mayhem, craziness, frustration, love, joy, family, friends, life lessons and so much more this world can bring. Just because I am a year older, learning is still a daily thing in my life.

To everyone who has taken the time to wish me a Happy Birthday, Thank You very much. Have a great day!

I may even take some time off tomorrow to go to the tanning bed or just sit out in the sun, unless of course it rains like they are calling for.

It is now officially spring here in South Carolina and the ritual chore of cleaning out the old will take place all week. The biggest thing to tackle will be the spare room and out side building. How in the world can one small family accumulate this much crap in just a year?

Now half of the stuff we have still has the tags on it and yet has never been used. I think maybe I have a problem with impulse shopping perhaps. Finding something on sale is a hobby for me whether I need it or not. Why do I think just because it has that big bright red tag on it, that I must purchase it before some one else grabs that set of Bubba Teeth or those 50 pairs of flip flops.

My husband is already saying that his 6 pairs of shoes has no room in our closet compared to my 100 pairs that match something I wear on a daily basis. Oh well, maybe we should just build on to the house so my impulse purchases will have a room of their own or a whole wing as my husband would say.

Next time I see a sale, I will try not to stop. LOL

The sun was shining, cars were humming, dust was flying and the smell of racing fuel was in the air. Take hold everyone because this racing season is just now getting under way. Once it gets it’s hook’s in you, it is all over but the crying. My man Timmy Smith won Stock 8 leading the entire race. Chris Goodman took home the trophy for Young Guns. And the rest of the winners did a fabulous job at keeping it clean for the most part. Already I can’t wait for next weekend. The 2009 season is off to a running start now.
